GearGuide Entry:Examining ACU Boots: April 23, 2013

Great ACU BootsAs a tough active person on the go, I'm always on the look out for boots that can keep up with me. This of course required a bit of research. Usually the two words hardy and light weight don't go hand in hand. However the words that kept showing up in my research was ACU boots. The term "ACU" is short for "Army Combat Uniform" . In short , they are the boots that are worn with the uniforms of our men and women in the military.

Being in the armed forces the types of regulation footwear are usually at least eight inches in height, be made of tan rough side out cattle hide leather with a plain toe and tan rubber out soles, and be without any zippers or side tabs. The commercial version of these boots are made without such restrictions.

There are also different types of boots for different situations. The military has mountain combat boots for rough terrain, as well as extreme cold weather boots. These are being phased out by the military for a modular boot system available for multiple for all environments. Amazing ACU Boots

ACU boots put heavily through traction in the armed forces, it's not unheard of to hear about soldiers going through their boots in two to five months of first donning them. However ,  one needs to bear in mind soldiers pretty much live on their feet. For they're prices vary from 50 dollars to 200 dollars depending on where you end up buying them.

Most you'll end up running across is made for comfort, and well vented. It's usually treated for all sorts of hazards, such as water or fire damage. They also usually have durable lace up sides and are lined in a way that'll hug the feet and the calves for extra comfort.

If your not a soldier, I expect these types of boots will last you awhile, since most people don't spent all day on their feet. Depending on where you manage to find them, they can be a good value. The features are also depend on what your looking for in a boot. Obviously hikers will seek out water proof features more then fire proof. All in all these types of boots were made to be comfortable and fit well into any outdoors activity.
