Tru-Spec 24-7 Series Ultralight Military Uniform & Field Shirts
September 18, 2012

One of the new things to come from the Tru-Spec 24-7 Series this year are the Ultralight uniform and field shirts. These were designed for both on- and off-duty wear and with their short sleeve versions, they can fit in with most any situation.

The 24-7 Series Ultralight uniform shirt is made from 4.25 oz. 65/35 Teflon coated polyester cotton rip-stop fabric. You already know how I feel about rip-stop, but Ill just reiterate that it can take a beating and come through looking brand new. The Teflon coating makes it water resistant, so it will withstand some moisture like a light mist, but it wont keep you dry if theres a downpour. If you read my post about breathable vs. waterproof fabrics, youll get a better idea of what you want from your clothes. Honestly, theres a reason people dont make waterproof base layers. Water resistant and breathable is going to be as much as youd ever want.

Tru-Spec calls this shirt a great alternative to Class B uniform, and certainly the hidden document pockets, bellowed front pockets and flaps with hook and loop closures, pen/pencil stall, and mic/sunglass holder make it very user friendly. But this shirt was designed to work as well as look good, so it comes complete with gusseted underarms, articulated sleeves at elbows, and a bi-swing back to increase ease of movement. Be sure to take a look at our other military shirts and clothing.

The 24-7 Series Ultralight field shirt is the same material without the Teflon coating. Its more formal looking than the uniform shirt since it has a button down collar (with hidden buttons under the collar points), yoked back, and a dress style shirt tail (not that youd see that since it should be tucked in). It may be the pretty one of the two shirts, but it is still functional. It, too, has bellowed front pockets and pencil pockets.

Tru-Spec has also made this shirt comfortable by making it with articulated sleeves and elbows and underarm vents. If you get a little sticky, youll appreciate those. Both styles of shirt have 2 button banded vent cuffs with plackets to hold up rolled sleeves and make for a complete uniform with 24-7 Series tactical pants.
