Rockport Works 8" TruWalk Waterproof Tactical Boots with Side Zippers
September 18, 2012

Rockport Works has come out with two brand new boots for its tactical line: the 8" TruWalk Waterproof Tactical Boot with Side Zipper and the 6" TruWalk Waterproof Tactical Boot with Side Zipper. These are part of the First Advantage style tactical boots. They are pretty similar, so Ill talk about the basics first and then get into how they are different.

Both the 8" and the 6" versions of the TruWalk Waterproof Tactical Boot feature a TruWalk rubber outsole. This sole is designed to give you the smoothest stride possible. The heel is beveled to reduce impact so heel strikes will be easier on your hips and knees. The outsole is also contoured to give you an easy rolling step, and the flexible rubber allows the boot to follow the bend of your foot. For extra cushioning, these boots also feature an EVA midsole and adiPRENE by adidas, which adds a shock absorbing heel and a rebounding forepart to give extra energy and bounce to each step. The boots have a removable EVA cushion insert with the same adiPRENE development for extra support and comfort. EVA isnt as durable as PU, but it is less expensive. Materials are always a trade off, so think about what you want and expect from your boots.

The outer materials are waterproof leather so the boots will shed rain and polish up well and ballistic nylon for strength and durability. The liner is moisture wicking nylon mesh to carry water and sweat away from the foot, and the Hydro-Defense Waterproof bootie provides breathable, waterproof comfort. Both styles are also 100% non-metallic, so they can easily get through security checkpoints, and remember they both have a side zipper for easy on and off.

The difference, aside from height of the shoe, is the toe. The 8" TruWalk Waterproof Tactical Boot with Side Zipper has a soft toe. It is good for walking, training, or normal patrol. If you need a safety shoe, the 6" is your answer. With its composite toe, it meets ASTM F2413 class 75 impact and compression standards as well as ASTM F2413 EH standards. The composite toe is essentially a non-metallic version of steel toe: it has all the same strength, but without the weight and security check frustration. Since it is both strong and non-metallic, it is certified protective footwear that provides extra protection against accidental contact with live electrical parts.

The new 8"and 6" TruWalk Waterproof Tactical Boots with Side Zippers are two great options for tactical or patrol boots. Rockport Works has created two versions of an affordable, well-designed boot for the law enforcement professional. Dont take my word for it, though. If you havent worn Rockport boots before, talk to the people you work with and see what they think of the company. Chances are youll know someone who has worn Rockport boots if you havent yourself. If you like what you hear (and I bet you will), consider the 8" or 6" TruWalk Waterproof Tactical Boots with Side Zippers the next time youre looking for new tactical or patrol boots. You wont be disappointed. Be sure to check out the rest of our tactical footwear from the best brands in the industry.
