Standout Features   The Outer Tactical Vest (OTV) and Small Arms Protective Insert (SAPI), represents the most innovative, technologically advanced protective system ever developed for United States Military Forces. The SDS OTV is designed to provide superior anti-fragmentation protection. It also offers protection against 9mm handgun rounds at government required velocities when used alone, and protection against the NATO 7.62 x 51mm M-80 Ball, Soviet 7.62 x 54R Ball, and U.S. 5.56mm M855 Ball at government required velocities when used with the SAPI (ceramic plate). The multiple layers of tough aramid material in the outer tactical vest (OTV) combined with the ceramic/composite small arms protective inserts (SAPI) provide an armored barrier for the soldier against mines, grenades, mortar shells, artillery fire, and rifle projectiles. A projectile may penetrate the SAPI and the outer layers of the OTV where it is slowed down and eventually stopped by the inner layers, and prevented from passing through the armor system. All performace testing for the S.D.S. OTV is conducted independently by SDS at a National Institute of Justice recognized ballistic testing facility. The S.D.S. OTV Body Armor is compatible with all pockets from the Molle and Rack systems as well as all pockets from the Spears/Balcs systems.
