Nothing Outperforms a Taylor's Leatherwear Jacket.  Here's Why:

* Water Resistant:  Our tests show that a Taylor's Leatherwear Jacket will
repel water for up to 2 hours before becoming saturated.

* Fire Resistant:  Leather resists burning, providing critical protection
in the event of explosion, vehicle accident or other emergency.

* Abrasion Resistant:  Tests by the U.S. DOT National Safety Administration
involving motorcycle falls have shown leather to be more abrasion resistant
than any other know clothing material, including Kevlar.  The random nature
of leather fibers gives it an inherent strength that can not be reproduced
 synthetically. (Study available upon request)

* Windproof:  Leather pores contract in cold wind, providing an effective
barrier to inclement weather while holding in body heat.

* Breathable:  Thanks to its natural pores, leather remains supple and strong
 throughout its service life.

* So Durable:  Leather outlasts almost any other type of clothing, especially
under heavy use.  All Taylor's Leatherwear police garments are guaranteed
 for 5 years.

* A Smart Buy:  Virtually no other material is as cost effective as leather.
Assuming a very conservative 10-year life, a $350-$400 per jacket costs
only $35-$40 per year, far below that of any synthetic of plastic
 alternative.

* Professional Look:  Leather jackets demand respect.  They project a
professional and authoritative image.  In fact, the NYPD has documented
a reduction in attacks on officers wearing leather in comparison to those
 wearing cloth.

Facts concerning Leather Jackets:

1.  Water Resistant:  Virtually no material can be water proof and breathable.
That's why we say Water Resistant.  Our tests show the jackets to turn water
about 2 hours before becoming saturated.  Scotchguard or similar product will
   increase the water resistance.

2.  Breathable:  The maker of leather, Nature Inc., decided long ago leather was
to be breathable and adaptable to differing conditions.  Cattle have been
wearing it for years.  And unlike many of the manmade fabrics, leather will
maintain it's physical properties for the life of the garment.

3.  Fire Resistant:  Leather will not burn.  This can be very helpful in an
   explosion.

4.  Wind Proof:  As leather is subjected to cold and wind, the pores close, just
like your skin, and this eliminates most wind from coming through the jacket.

5.  Durable:  We offer a full Five (5) year warranty on our jackets, whether it's
domestic, or import.  Taylor's and it's manufacturers use only the finest
components and trim in the production of all jackets.

6.  Abrasion Resistant (tougher than Kevlar):  Tests done by the U.S. Department
of Transportation National Safety Administration Contract #HS-5-01160 have
shown leather to be more abrasion resistant than any other fabric.  The tests
were done in conjunction with motorcycle accidents.  The random nature of the
leather fibers gives leather an inherent strength that cannot be reproduced
in the laboratory.  This results in durability and safety.

7.  Maintenance:  The garments do need cleaing and touch-up every 2 or 3 years.
Taylor's owns a company set up exclusively for this purpose, Appalachian
Leather Cleaner's, located in Tullahoma.  The current cost to clean and
refinish is $45.00 or about $15.00 per year for service.  Leather garments
can be repaired if damaged on duty.

8.  Safety:  A leather garment will offer protection against sharp objects, glass
   knives etc.

9.  Custom Styling and Fit:  Taylor's offers a complete line of customizing options
in our domestic line and offer all needed sizes including "semi" custom sizing
   for hard to fit officers.

10. Warmth:  Utilizing "3-M Thinsulate" as lining provides 1/3rd more warmth than
the most popular "Gore-Tex" coat on the market. (study available upon request)

11. Cost Effective:  Evaluated over the life of the garment, virtually no garment
compares to leather on a cost per year basis.  Assuming a very conservative
Ten (10) year life at $400.00 per coat the yearly cost is $40.00.  No cloth
garment can compare.  It is not rare for us to receive jackets for cleaning
and reconditioning that have seen 20-30 years of service!

12. Manufacturer:  Every Taylor's import jacket is manufactured according to our
specifications and guidelines and is watched closely by our quality control
department.  Every Taylor's domestic jacket is individually cut and sewn
Tullahoma, Tennessee, where we have been sewing leather since 1943!

Conclusion:  There is no "perfect" jacket for every climate and condition, however, if you evaluate every potential  garment and consider all the factors, a leather garment will win hands down.  Couple this evaluation with the service and reputation of Taylor's and you be the judge.  Based on all the relevant factors, you just can't beat a leather jacket!
