This is the all-purpose lightweight individual carrying equipment system first issued in 1975. Tried and true for more than 30 years.

Constructed from water-repellent nylon duck and webbing and metal hardware.

Main compartment closes by means of a drawstring secured by a plastic cord clamp.

A radio pocket is located against the back on the inside.

Three pockets on the outside with strap and buckle adjustable closures and with snap fasteners for quick access are provided for miscellaneous items. The top flap has a pocket with a hook and pile fastener tape sealed closure.

Equipment hangers are located above each outside pocket on each side.

An envelope pocket is located at the top back of the pack and padded with spacer cloth, into which the field pack frame is inserted. Two rectangular wire loops located at the top back of the field pack and D-rings on each side at the bottom of the field pack are used to provide shoulder strap attachment when the field pack (medium only) is carried without the field pack frame. (Frame must be used with large pack.)

Large "Alice" pack features an additional 3 small outside pockets above the larger pockets.

Frame, field pack - the Alice pack frame is used as a mount for the large field pack.

Optional Spec-Ops Brand super straps available for an additional cost. The super straps feature extra padding and thickness.

Alice pack with frame is designed to carry loads from 35 lbs to 55 lbs. The frame creates about 2 inches of clearance between the pack and your back. This feature offers comfort as you do not get as hot as when using an internal frame pack. Additionally the alice pack with frame design promotes good balance when hiking.
