Most plate carrier vests use the MOLLE system which increases utility and provides a tactical advantage. The main plate carrier offers the wearer protection while the MOLLE system allows them to customize their gear loadout for each mission or combat situation. Being able to quickly and efficiently gear up while maintaining defensive capabilities offers many tactical advantages to the user, which is why plate carriers are so common with individuals entering potential combat zones. Today’s tactical vests are designed and constructed with protection, functionality, and comfort in mind, as they have evolved over time from being bulky and intrusive to compact, versatile and tactically advantageous.

Plate carrier vests are becoming a necessary piece of gear for police officers, other law enforcement officials, and of course soldiers as more advanced weaponry has become available. Countless lives have been saved and injuries prevented through the use of these vests. The United States Marine Corps has been using some form of modular tactical vest since the 1980s due to their tactical and defensive advantages. The Marines’ tactical vests have multiple armor plates that fit into the chest, torso, back, and other areas for added protection. The US Army and other military and special forces groups including SWAT teams also use similar tactical armor plate carrier vests as well for tactical superiority and protection.
