The Model 42 features a Wee-Hawk style blade which is secured to the handles by six-lobe head screw style pivot pins, and the pins are heat-treated and larger than previous ones. The handle spring latch also uses a screw head pivot-pin attachment as well, so it may be removed if preferred making the Model 42 latch less. Another nice feature are the skeletonized cast titanium handles which are very tough and of nominal weight for better balance. Handles feature a “Latch Gate" to prevent the latch from contacting the blade, and they have a more contoured grip.
